To opt out of Instant Checkmate, go to suppression.peopleconnect.us/login, enter a disposable email and verify it, then provide your date of birth and legal name to locate your record. Select your profile, choose Suppressed from the Desired Behavior dropdown, and click Save. Your record will be hidden within 48 hours. One request also removes you from TruthFinder, Intelius, and USSearch.
One request covers 4 sites at once
Instant Checkmate is owned by PeopleConnect, Inc. Submitting one suppression request removes your data from all four of their sites:
Instant Checkmate is a people search and background check site that compiles public records data including your name, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, criminal records, traffic records, employment history, education history, relatives, associates, and location history. This guide covers the official, free suppression process through PeopleConnect, last updated May 2026.
No account and no payment required. Have your exact date of birth and legal name ready before you begin – the suppression tool requires both to locate your record.
Instant Checkmate does not have its own opt-out page. All removals go through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center, the shared portal for all four PeopleConnect sites.
Open your browser and go to https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/login
The portal requires an email to send a verification link. This is how PeopleConnect confirms you are a real person before allowing any suppression changes.
Enter a disposable email address, check the box to agree to the terms of service, and click Continue.
PeopleConnect sends a confirmation email immediately. You cannot proceed to the next step until the email is verified.
Open your inbox (or the disposable email service) and click the verification link in the email from PeopleConnect. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive within 2 minutes.
The suppression tool uses your date of birth to narrow down the search results and find your specific record. Enter it exactly as it appears on official documents.
Enter your date of birth in the format requested and click Continue.
Your legal first and last name are required. If you have ever been listed under a maiden name, nickname, or name variation, adding those will help locate all associated records.
Enter your first name and last name. Middle name is optional. Add any alternate names you have been listed under, then click Continue.
The tool will display a list of profiles matching your name and date of birth. Identify the one that matches your current or most recent address.
Review the listed profiles and click on the one that matches you. If you see multiple records for different addresses, you will need to suppress each one separately.
This is the step that actually removes your data. The portal shows a "Desired Behavior" dropdown for each record. You need to change it from its current state to Suppressed.
In the Desired Behavior dropdown, select Suppressed, then click Save. You will see a confirmation message when the suppression is set successfully.
PeopleConnect does not send a removal confirmation email. You need to check manually. Allow 48 hours for the suppression to propagate across all four sites.
After 48 hours, search your name on Instant Checkmate. Also check TruthFinder, Intelius, and USSearch. Your record should not appear on any of them.
Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us/login, enter a disposable email and verify it, then enter your date of birth and legal name. Select your matching record and choose Suppressed from the Desired Behavior dropdown, then click Save. Your data will be hidden within 48 hours. The process is free and no account is required.

Suppression is typically applied within 48 hours of saving your request. PeopleConnect does not send a confirmation email, so you need to check the sites manually after 48 hours to verify your record no longer appears.
No. Suppression is not permanent. New public records such as a change of address, court filing, or updated voter registration can cause your profile to reappear. Most privacy experts recommend rechecking every 3 to 6 months.
Yes, completely free. You do not need to create an account or pay any fee. Do not pay any third-party service that claims to remove you from Instant Checkmate.
The suppression portal allows you to handle each record individually. Select each matching profile and set it to Suppressed. If there are many records, complete the first suppression and then email [email protected] with details of the remaining profiles.
Yes. The PeopleConnect Suppression Center requires your date of birth to search for your records. This is what makes the Instant Checkmate opt-out process different from most other data brokers. Have your exact date of birth ready before you begin.
Your suppression request has been saved. Your record will be hidden on Instant Checkmate, TruthFinder, Intelius, and USSearch within 48 hours.
Search your name on all four sites after 48 hours to confirm. If any record is still visible after 5 business days, log back in to the portal and verify the status, or contact [email protected]. New public records can cause your data to reappear, so recheck every few months.
You just removed yourself from four sites with one request. There are still 100+ other data brokers selling your personal information right now.
Doing this manually for every site takes most people 200 to 300 hours per year, and each site needs to be redone every few months.
